Material Properties
In: Data_base tree structure->Properties
The Material Database window is of the second type of the general Edit/View window. It can be run by a click on the View or Edit command in the right-hand click popup menu of the data_base tree structure, or by running the menu item Mat. Database in the main menu. Its typical composition follows:
The atypical listbox marked Material Database in the left bottom corner is forerunner of the next development. A material database, from which the current materials could be efficiently defined, will be build around this listbox.
Each material is characterised by its ID-number. The user can provide more detailed specification within the Material parameter and by classification into one of the predefined Groups. The Material string is not necessary and this is valid also for the Group parameter except for the LESA calculation method. Nevertheless, PragTic will issue a warning whenever he during fatigue calculations encounters a material without Group definition. The fatigue calculations on element with material with non-set Group will lead to a crash of the calculation.
Choice of the Group affects the parameters used within the LESA method, which are then automatically set to default values valid for the chosen group. The user can redefine these default values as desired. Since the number of material parameters is very high only the currently set parameters are shown as default. A right-hand click within the table allows the user to Unpack the material parameters set to all of them. Similarly Pack command will show only the user-defined parameters.
Another way to define material parameters is through the Calculation Methods window. This option is much more handy, because it shows to user only the material parameters really necessary for the fatigue calculation.
When the import of *.nas or *.dat files is done, the materials defined there are imported to this MATERIAL data_vector. Thus they have direct relation to materials defined within the original FE-model.
It can happen that the relation of some material to particular elements or isolated points has to be changed. The user can use the Apply to set button, which triggers a new dialogue, where the user can select the element set or some set of isolated points, to which he wants to apply it. This button is enabled only in the Edit mode.
